I've used two times and the progoram doesn't actually merge the subtitles, it just puts them one after the other in a single file. This can also be done by selecting the text in the second file and adding it to the other. This is completely useless as I still only get the first half of the subtitles. The second half starts again at 0 minutes, so it doesn't read that they're supposed to come next. SubtitleSync is much better.

You can find the FPS (frames per second) of any AVI file from either AviCodec or GSpot, both free utilities are available from free-codecs.com

Free-Codecs.com :: AVIcodec 1.2.0.113
.
Free-Codecs.com :: Download GSpot 2.70

There are easier ways for splitting and merging subtitles than Subtitle Workshop, you know?
I needed a soft so easy that even my parents could use it.
And I found it. It's called SubtitleSync. It's a website, so you don't have to install anything...

Thank you so much for a very detailed instruction. It works like a charm with the splitting part. I am not that brave on the joining one yet.
