YAMB didn't worked at all for me either.
AVIAddXSubs works great!. I´ve been using it to embbed subtitles into AVI for years. I just forgot that it worked on MKV and MP4 files as well. Thanks Ray for the reminder.
John, you must select the Idx/Sub option instead of the XSUB option in the Configuration 1, SUB1 tab. It then creates and idx, sub combination files for your subtitles.
I have tried this for MKV and MP4.

Enjoy

There exists a libboost-dev package which installs boost. So the command is just
sudo apt-get install libboost-dev

You said "There are other excellent editors available that allow developing software in C++ language – like SciTE, notepad2, notepad++ etc."

I was surprised that you lumped these editors in with the IDEs you have mentioned. I use Notepad++ a lot as a general-purpose editor, and like it, but I have been out of C programming for some time. However, I have never thought of it in terms of an IDE.

I was previously using DJGPP with RHIDE, but they won't run on a 64-bit PC, swo I have dumped them. I used the single-step functions of the IDE a lot. Do the IDEs you have mentioned support single step, display of the assembler code of C commands, etc?
